Sweet Corn Bread

This recipe comes from The Vegetarian Epicure and has been a family favorite for many years.

1¼ cups AP flour
¾ cup corn meal
¼ cup granulatred sugar
5 teaspoons baking powder
¾ teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons melted butter

Sift together all dry ingredients. Beat the egg with the milk and add it to the flour mixture along with the melted butter. Stir everything up well.

Spread the batter in a buttered 9" pie dish and bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until it is lightly browned around the edges.
