Perfect Soft Boiled Egg Many thanks to Cook's Illustrated magazine for this fool proof method to soft boiled perfection. In a small saucepan bring ½" of water to a boil and gently lay in the cold eggs to be cooked. Cover the eggs and cook them for exactly 6½ minutes.
