Pimento

Pimento is the Spanish word for a large, red sweet pepper that most Americans probably recognize as the stuffing found inside green olives.  But is actually a very important pepper crop in Europe, where it is widely used in the making of Paprika, a spice used around the world.

Less well known is that Pimento is also the name of the tree, indigenous to the Caribbean, from which allspice comes
