Datil Pepper Although called a "pepper" the Datil is a chile and is almost as fiery as the Habenero. The Datil pepper is indigenous to the St. Augustine area of northeast Florida. It arrived there in the 1700s when the Minorcans migrated from the Caribbean. It is used to make hot sauces, mustards and other various condiments. Datil products can be found on restaurant tables and in stores throughout the St. Augustine area. |
